PARADE REGULATIONS – Sunday 1st December 2019

The Kilbirnie Business network invites all pre-schools, churches, schools, clubs, and businesses to participate in the Kilbirnie Santa Parade at 10.30am on the 1st December 2019.

While the event is a fun-filled activity, we must ensure that all participants act in a safe manner, ensuring the safety of those involved in the parade and spectators.

This theme for this year's parade is a "Kiwi Christmas" and we would encourage groups to decorate their floats with this in mind.

It is imperative that ALL participants are aware of these rules.

1. FLOAT PLACEMENT & ASSEMBLY AREA - The assembly area is Mahora Street, where space will be allotted to your corresponding parade order number. You will receive this number and confirmation of assembly time for your particular float a week or so before the parade. Please arrive at the time allotted.
2. MARSHALLS – Floats and participants must comply with any requests from marshalls.
3. PARADE ROUTE - The parade will begin at 10.30am sharp. Leaving the assembly area on Mahora Street, it will travel left onto Rongotai Road, passing Onepu Road and left into Bay Rd where the public will be eagerly awaiting the parade. At the junction of Bay Rd / Coutts St the parade itself ends but we recommend that vehicles proceed back to the assembly area on Mahora Street to safely dismount.
4. POST PARADE - DISEMBARKATION FROM FLOATS IS TO BE MADE ON THE FOOTPATH SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. 
5. NO WATER PISTOLS / WATER BALLOONS / SILLY STRING/ TO BE PART OF YOUR PARADE ENTRY – Nothing is to be thrown from the float at any time toward spectators or other parade participants.
6. SWEETS AND GIVE AWAYS – Lollies and giveaways may be handed to spectators by those walking alongside your float - NO throwing of any type of material from any float will be permitted.
7. SPEED – We anticipate the speed will be no more than 5km per hour. Vehicles will need to note those individuals around the vehicles when embarking, disembarking and leaving within the assembly / disembarking area. Drivers and float managers are to be most aware of the movement of people including parade participants.
8. RATIO OF CARE – Ratios as follows must apply.
   • Children aged between 8-14 years – 1 adult per 5 children
   • Children aged between 3 – 8 year - 2 adults per 5 children
   • Children under the age of three will not be able to participate in the parade unless actively restrained in the vehicle/float and in approved child restraints, a stroller or similar.
   • Please ensure the children have suitable attire to keep warm/cool etc. throughout the parade time. Ensure snacks and drinks are available should they require them.
9. WHEN THE PARADE ENDS – Walking participants will finish at the end of Bay Rd / Coutts Street junction.
10. PARADE REGULATIONS – Submission of an entry form signifies the acceptance of the parade regulations.
11. DRIVER – The driver of the vehicle is responsible for their load/participants at all times. Both Driver and Float Manager MUST be aware of these rules
12. FLOAT MANAGER – The float manager is responsible for the people in, on and around the float. Take care to appoint a person who is responsible as the FLOAT MANAGER.
13. DANGEROUS AND UN-ROADWORTHY FLOATS – All floats must be roadworthy both to and from the parade. ALL vehicles will be checked for current registration and WOF/COF. If you intend using a vehicle outside of the road regulations, please contact us for further advice.
14. ROAD RULES –Normal road rules DO apply, failure to comply with road rules may result in police action.
15. ROAD CLOSURES – Will be in place, however, emergency vehicles may need passage at some point. Please be aware of their possible entry.
16. VEHICLE SIZE – While there may be manoeuvrability issues, please ensure the maximum size is height 3m, width 2.5m, and have no obvious exhaust or fume issues.
17. COMMON SENSE AND COURTESY – Please use your common sense and ensure enjoyment by all.

• Two prizes of $300 will be awarded on the day; one of $300 for best community float and one of $300 for best business float.  As part of the registration process participants will be asked to provide a short statement about their organisation and float to assist with the judging.  Judging will take place on the day during line up and prizes will be awarded from the Bay Road stage after the parade at approximately 11.05am.  The Judge’s decision is final.

Please make sure you read and agree to the Rules and Regulations for participating in the Santa Parade before registering - as the completion of a registration form implies your consent and adherance to these regulations.

Terms and Conditions - Gold Coast Holiday Promotion, March-April 2018

1. Customers must spend a minimum of $5 per transaction. Transactions must physically occur in a participating Kilbirnie Shopping Centre store within the Kilbirnie Business Network territory. Entries are limited to one per day.
2. With purchase, customers will receive an entry card displaying a unique code, they must provide the code along with their first name, surname, cell/home phone and email to enter the draw. There are two ways to enter the draw: via the official kilbirnie.org.nz online entry form or the official paper entry card. Only legible entries will be submitted into the draw. No dockets are required.
3. All data collected will be kept in accordance with the Privacy Act 1993. Entrants are given the opportunity to opt out of receiving any marketing information from the Kilbirnie Business Network.
4. Official entry cards are to be submitted into one of four entry stations located at:
   Kilbirnie/Lyall Bay Community Centre, 56 – 58 Bay Road, Kilbirnie
   Commonsense Organics, 37 Rongotai Road, Kilbirnie
   Countdown, 47 Bay Road, Kilbirnie
   PAK’nSAVE, 78 Rongotai Road, Kilbirnie
5. Kilbirnie Shopping Centre retail staff cannot enter for purchases made in the business they work in. However, if they make a purchase in another Kilbirnie Shopping Centre business, then they are treated as any other customer would be and can enter.
6. Promotion begins on Monday 19 March and ends at 5pm on Monday 9 April 2018.
7. The winner will be drawn at the offices of Wellington City Council and notified on Thursday 12th April. Prize may be redrawn if winner cannot be contacted after 48 hours.
8. There is one prize and one winner. The person claiming the prize must be aged 18 or older.
   The prize is a holiday to the value of $2,500 to be booked by Kilbirnie Flight Centre. The prize must be booked by 30 June 2018. Any additional costs incurred by the prize-winner in taking the prize must be borne by the prize-winner and Kilbirnie Business Network is not liable for any costs over and above the $2,500 prize.

Conditions:

5. Completed entry forms go into the green envelope for collection.
6. Staff cannot enter for purchases made in the business they work in. If they make a purchase in another business, however, then they are treated as any other customer would be and can enter at that store.

8. Promotion begins on Friday 14th August in participating stores.
9. Closes on Sunday 27th August, 5pm.
10. Prizes drawn on Wednesday 30th August and the winner will be notified by phone. Prizes may be re-drawn if winners cannot be contacted.

2. Promotional kits will be collected on Monday, 28th August. Please make sure that staff on duty that day has the pack ready for collection – any that are not collected, may miss out on going in the draw.
3. Businesses: Write the name of your business on the form, so we can acknowledge the winner came from your store.

Getting to Kilbirnie

Kilbirnie shopping centre is located in the eastern part of Wellington. It is only 2.5km from Wellington International Airport and 6km from the city centre – we are also nearby two beaches Evans Bay and Lyall Bay which are short walk away.

Kilbirnie is a transport hub for buses which makes it easy to get to from all over Wellington. For information on public transport options visit Metlink https://www.metlink.org.nz/

Drive to the end of the motorway and through the Terrace Tunnel. Follow the signs to the airport and go through Mt Victoria Tunnel.
