Te Taiao mural comes to life.
Local MP Paul Eagle has officially unveiled “Te Taiao” – a mural designed and painted by Miriama Grace-Smith, and commissioned by the Kilbirnie Business Network as part of its Kilbirnie beautification project.
This mural depicts the birds and marine life that inhabit the Wellington coastline and sea. Dolphins play in the harbour, an octopus slides across the ocean floor, paua and kina live in rock pools, and shags dry their wings on the rocks. The Wellington wind has given rise to a mighty wave that separates land and sea.
Pupils from Evans Bay Intermediate School performed at the official unveilling held early March which also involved Wellington City Deputy Mayor Sarah Free, local businesses and members of the Kilbirnie Business Network Committee and Evans Bay Intermediate School BOT.
Kilbirnie Business Network is very grateful to Resene, RaD Car Hire, Evans Bay Intermediate School and Hirepool for their generous support which has helped make this project happen.
